Why triptychs? The triptych format came to me in 2008 as the ideal vehicle to unleash and then contain the pent-up, unwieldy range of my abstract painting impulses. Large-scale triptychs give me the latitude to think out loud on each successive canvas; to say "Yes, No, Maybe," in picture after picture. I love to spend every day in my studio letting every possibility of abstract painting appear on canvas with very little intervention from me. My job is to stay out of the way, to keep the vision pure.  I just like to be standing there watching it all happen.
